Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hey friends…..it’s Michelle back with a new post this week, that doesn’t quite feature a new colour combination, but rather features 2 of the products that are part of the product feature this week. This week it is all about the basics, so I decided to use 2 of the most versatile embossing powders that you need…..Primary Ebony and Clear Gloss. Keep reading and I’ll show you how I went Back to the Basics, with not only the basic powders that I used, but also techniques.
Back to the Basics
- Using a stamp positioning tool, place your background stamp in it and a piece of white cardstock. Ink up the stamp using your slow drying embossing ink pad and stamp on the cardstock. Remove and sprinkle on the Primary Ebony Embossing Powder.
- Without removing the stamp place a piece of black cardstock exactly where the white cardstock was. Ink up the stamp and stamp the image on the black cardstock. Remove the cardstock and sprinkle on the Clear Embossing Powder and heat set both using your heat tool.
- Using an interference ink pad (which changes colour when used on dark cardstock compared to white) ink blend on the black cardstock and then on the white. On the black cardstock it will give you a gorgeous purple metallic colour and you get a pink on the white cardstock.
- Trim down each of the pieces of cardstock evenly on 4 sides to frame the embossed image, to use as your staring point. Cut the black cardstock to 3.75″x 5″. Trim the white cardstock evenly on all 4 sides until it measures approx. 3″x4.25″ or the size you would like.
- Using foam tape, place the piece of white cardstock in place on the black cardstock, so that the 2 images line up perfectly. Adhere both of these to a top folding A2 cardbase.
- Add a sentiment of your choosing using foam tape and add to the cardfront.
I think these are definitely 2 embossing powders you need in your collection. True basics and but most definitely must haves! They are perfect for the emboss resist ink blending technique and so many more! I hope that I have helped to inspire you in some way and I wish you all the most wonderful and colourful day! Until next time 🙂

Hello…..my name is Michelle and I’m a Canadian girl living in the beautiful countryside of Switzerland with my Swiss husband and 2 cats. I love all things crafty, shiny and glittery! Besides my love for papercrafting, I also enjoy crocheting and making felt flowers.
My papercrafting journey began about 20 years ago when I walked into my little local stamp and scrapbooking store to make a scrapbook album for my parents’ 20th wedding anniversary. I eventually moved on to cardmaking and haven’t looked back since.
