CREATE A BACKGROUND PANEL WITH MIXED MEDIA ADDITIVES

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hello everyone, Emilie here. Today I am sharing a simple yet effective way to create a background panel with Mixed Media Additives, which I then used to make a birthday card.

Create a background panel with Mixed Media Additives.

I began by cutting down a piece of white cardstock to a 4.25 x 5.5″ panel. Then I added embossing ink all over and sprinkled on Fuchsia Fusion embossing powder. Next I heated up my panel from underneath to heat set the embossing powder with my heat tool on setting 2. Then I sprinkled the Mixed Media Additives Harlequin with a metal craft spoon to give me a more even layer. Your Mixed Media Additives (MMAs for short) will stick to the embossing powder because once you’ve heated it up it acts like a glue before it cools.

Some of the Mixed Media Additives hadn’t stuck to the embossing powder because it had cooled down, so to get them to stick I quickly re-heated my panel from underneath with my heat tool, this was so the MMAs wouldn’t blow away.

Once my background panel was complete I then used a flower cover die to cut the pattern out of cardstock, once from white cardstock, second from black, and third from watercolour paper that I coloured pink using pigment powders. I then glued the black die cut onto the white one, making sure it was slightly off centre. This created a shadow. I then did the same for the pink die cut and glued it to the black one.

Now that all 3 die cuts were assembled, I glued it down to my background panel. I then die cut out the Happy Birthday sentiment from cardstock which I had heat embossed with Laguna and Newport embossing powder, then I die cut the sentiment shadows out of vellum and glued them all together. Lastly I glued down my panel to a 4.25 x 5.5″ card base and adhered the sentiment ontop with liquid glue.

Thank you for stopping by. I look forward to sharing another creation with you all soon, until then have fun creating with your WOW! Products.
