Double Embossing

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hey crafty friends…..Michelle back with you sharing a new project featuring the newest release. Today I am veering away from my usual colour combinations, because this newest release is just too gorgeous not to play with! My project today is full of gorgeous texture and features 2 types of embossing…..heat and dry embossing. Keep reading and I’ll give you all the details on how I added double embossing to my project for today.

Double Embossing

  1. Dry emboss a panel of mixed media paper (I find that the thicker weigtht of the MM paper gives a nice embossed result) using a 3D embossing folder. Spray the back of it lightly using water before putting it in the embossing folder. Trim it down to 4×5.25″.
  2. Take your embossing ink pad and run it over the entire embossed design, trying not to get it on the debossed (the unraised area) design.
  3. Takea a gold inkpad and run it over the embossed areas lightly, but do not get full coverage of it…kind of just random coverage with the gold.
  4. Sprinkle on the Asphalt Embossing powder from the Quad Building Blocks, making sure to leave some of the gold coming through. If you get the powder on all of the gold areas, brush it off lightly using a small paintbrush or even your fingers.
  5. Heat set the embossing powder.
  6. Heat emboss your larger sentiment using the same Asphalt powder on matte gold metallic cardstock and cut it out. For the smaller sentiment, heat emboss it using Brick embossing powder and diecut it.
  7. Adhere the background to an A2 (4.25×5.5″) cardbase and add the sentiments using liquid and foam adhesive.

And that’s it….a really simple and quick double embossed card. This is a really fun and full of texure technique….texture not just from the dry embossing, but also from the gorgeous embossing powders. Thank you so much for stopping by today for a new project featuring one of the brand new Quads. Head on over to the website and check out the other new release and don’t forget to follow WOW! on Instagram, to see all of the incredible inspiration!. Thanks again and I wish you all the most wonderful and colourful day! Until next time 🙂

Hello…..my name is Michelle and I’m a Canadian girl living in the beautiful countryside of Switzerland with my Swiss husband and 2 cats. I love all things crafty, shiny and glittery! Besides my love for papercrafting, I also enjoy crocheting and making felt flowers.

My papercrafting journey began about 20 years ago when I walked into my little local stamp and scrapbooking store to make a scrapbook album for my parents’ 20th wedding anniversary. I eventually moved on to cardmaking and haven’t looked back since.
