Today, I’m sharing a project using Dried Lavender and Aurora Borealis from the collection — I hope it inspires you to get creative with these magical new powders!

Step-by-Step Tutorial: Dried Lavender + Aurora Borealis Card

---

1. Die-Cut Your Leaf Layers
   • Use your layered leaves die set to cut the base layer from cardstock you’ve already heat-embossed with Dried Lavender (from our intro video).
   • For the intricate top layer, die-cut from thin vellum—this adds delicate interest without obscuring that gorgeous embossing beneath.
2. Create the Sparkly Frame
   • Cut a frame from black cardstock.
   • Press the frame gently into your WOW Embossing Ink pad—tip: use the ends of tweezers to keep fingers clear and get full, glossy coverage.
   • Holding the frame up to the light helps you spot any missed areas.
3. Heat-Emboss with Aurora Borealis
   • Sprinkle Aurora Borealis powder over your inked frame—this is the true showstopper of the collection, especially dazzling on dark backgrounds.
   • Ensure your heat tool is piping hot. Heat from behind at first to prevent glitter blow-off, then finish from the front once the powder has started to melt and lock in place.
4. Stamp & Emboss the Sentiment
   • Using Versafine Onyx Black ink (it dries slowly and is perfect for embossing), stamp your sentiment onto white cardstock.
   • Cover the main sentiment with more Aurora Borealis, and the smaller sub-sentiment with Clear Gloss powder.
   • Gently brush away any stray powder before heating—the anti-static treatment helps, but paper fibers and natural oils can still attract stray bits!
5. Build Up the “Big Hugs” Layer
   • Die-cut your sentiment three times: once from your sentiment panel and twice from scrap cardstock.
   • Glue the scrap-cut layers beneath your embossed sentiment to add dimension (scrap cardstock works wonderfully in place of foam!).
6. Assemble Your Card
   • Adhere your watercolor or cardstock panel to the base (if using).
   • Position the Aurora Borealis frame, adding glue to the top edge first so you can press it level, then secure the remainder.
   • Arrange leaf die-cuts around and inside the frame—experiment with overlap until it feels balanced.
   • Finally, add your layered “Big Hugs” sentiment inside the frame.
7. Finishing Touches
   • Embellish with a few purple gems around the frame for extra sparkle.
   • Step back and admire how the light dances off the embossing—chef’s kiss!
