TONE ON TONE TEXTURE, with added sparkle!

Hello, and welcome back to the blog! Today, I’ll be showing you that monochrome doesn’t have to be boring! I made this card with several of the new mixed media products, creating tone on tone texture, with added sparkle!

Creating the background

1. First, I created my background panel by running a brayer through my embossing ink pad, then all over an A2 white card panel. I poured Pastiche embossing powder all over the panel, and set with my heat tool.
2. I really wanted some added texture, so I went over the panel with my embossing paintbrush tool, then sprinkled some more of the Pastiche powder over the top, and heat set again, to create a 3D, textured panel full of sparkle.
3. Next, I made an A2 panel of gold card my covering my entire panel with embossing ink, as above, then adding Vegas Gold embossing powder (from the Million Dollar Duo) and heat setting.
4. I then die-cut my cover die from the gold card, and glued this to my Pastiche panel.
5. I placed my panel under an acetate block and a heavy object to help flatten out any warping.

Adding the detail

1. Die-cut several flowers and stems/leaves from white card and acetate.
2. On the white flowers, use a golden brown ink to add some shading to the centres of the flowers with a mini blender brush.
3. Layer the flowers together with liquid glue.
4. Using a Quickie Glue pen, trace over the indentations on the flowers that have been created by the die. Add gold glitter to the white flowers, and clear glitter to the acetate flowers.
5. Arrange the florals on your card and take a photo to remember the layout, then secure in place with liquid glue, and foam squares if any of the petals need extra support.
6. Add the sentiment – I heat embossed “Warm Wishes” in gold embossing powder before fussy cutting, and adding with foam squares.
