Embossing through Stencils

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hey crafty friends…Michelle back with you and a new and fabulous colour combination. I decided to keep it more simple and do a gorgeous duo of powders and do my embossing through stencils. It is actually quite easy to do…..let me show you!

Embossing through Stencils.

  1. Cut a piece of white cardstock larger than your BetterPress LetterPress plate and adhere it to the transparent cover using some low tack tape. Ink up the plate and run it through your die cutting machine.
  2. Adhere the first stencil over the inked image on all 4 sides. Start taking the embossing ink pad go direct to the paper and stencil. Ensure that you fully cover the stencil and cardstock with the embossing ink. Remove the stencil and sprinkle on Rosewater Embossing powder. Heat the powder to set it with your heat embossing gun.
  3. Adhere the 2nd stencil in place over the uninked butterflies. As in the previous step, take your ink pad and go directly to the stencil and completely cover the uninked part of the cardstock with the ink. Remove the stencil and sprinkle on the second powder, On the Lake. This second powder is a glitter, so be sure to heat from behind the cardstock. If you heat directly on top of the embossing glitter, you risk blowing the glitter off and all over your work surface. Be sure to use transparent powders for this, as you want to see the detail of the butterflies through the powder.
  4. Trim down the embossed background to 4×5.25″.
  5. Diecut the detailed word die using black cardstock and the shadow using vellum. Add the black diecut word to the vellum using some liquid adhesive. Heat emboss the smaller sub-sentiment using Ebony Embossing powder and trim down to size.
  6. Adhere the heat embossed background to the cardbase. Add the vellum diecut to the cardbase, making sure to only add the glue behind the black diecut word, as you will see the glue through the vellum. The black cardstock will hide the glue. Add some foam adhesive to the sub-sentiment and add over the diecut.

I absolutely love these 2 colours together and the sparkle is just WOW! A gorgeous duo of powders makes just as much of an impact as 4 or 5 colours. The colour combinations are truly endless. Thank you so much for stopping by today and I wish you all the most wonderful and colourful day!

Hello…..my name is Michelle and I’m a Canadian girl living in the beautiful countryside of Switzerland with my Swiss husband and 2 cats. I love all things crafty, shiny and glittery! Besides my love for papercrafting, I also enjoy crocheting and making felt flowers.

My papercrafting journey began about 20 years ago when I walked into my little local stamp and scrapbooking store to make a scrapbook album for my parents’ 20th wedding anniversary. I eventually moved on to cardmaking and haven’t looked back since.
