Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hello everyone, It’s Emilie here. Today I am using ink sprays, water and embossing powder to make unique marbling effect backgrounds that create beautiful, rich, fluid patterns, which I turned into baubles for a Christmas card. Creating marbling effect backgrounds are fun, easy and perfect for any project. Here’s how you can make your own.
Marbling effect backgrounds.
- Prepare Your Paper: Start by placing a piece of white card into a shoe box. This helps to protect your workspace from the over spray of ink.
- Spray the Ink: Choose your ink sprays, and spritz them onto your card. You can use one colour for a simple look, or layer multiple colours for a more vibrant marbled effect. Don’t worry about making it perfect-just let the ink flow and blend together.
- Add Water: After the ink is applied, take your water spray bottle and lightly mist over the ink. The water will help the ink spread and blend together more, giving you a soft, fluid marbled look.
- Dry the Background Slightly: Allow the inks to dry for a few minutes. You want the background to be a little bit damp.
- Apply Embossing Powder: Sprinkle embossing powder over the Inked areas. The powder will stick to the damp ink, adding texture and shine.
- Heat Set the Embossing Powder: Use a heat tool to melt the embossing powder. As it melts, the embossing powder will create a shiny, raised effect, adding depth and texture to your marbled background.
- Cool and Enjoy: Allow the card to cool down. You’ll now have a stunning and unique marbled background.
With my completed backgrounds I die cut out two baubles from them and used them to create this merry and bright Christmas card.
