Mass produce heat embossed cards – explore embossing with jayne

mass produce handmade cards with heat embossing

Do you love heat embossing, but shy away from it when you need to mass-produce or batch-make cards? Well, today, I’ve got an easy way to let your favourite embossing powders shine on mass-produced cards! I’ve used four out of the six new colours from the Mermaid Lagoon release, which work so beautifully together.

What You’ll Need

  • White cardstock
  • Several colours of embossing powder (I used Coral Crown, Enchanted Shadows, Siren Call and Moonlight Marina)
  • Heat embossing tool
  • Embossing ink
  • A brayer
  • Some die-cut sentiments
  • Paper trimmer/guillotine
  • Double-sided adhesive (or other glue if you don’t have it)
  • Optional.- some additional embellishments
  • matching handmade cards mass produced with heat embossing

Instructions: mass produce heat embossed cards

  • Cover an A2 card panel with embossing ink, applying with a brayer.
  • Add embossing powder in your chosen colour over the panel and heat set. Repeat for as many colours as you’d like to use.
  • Using a guillotine or paper trimmer, trim each panel down to create a number of strips 4.25″ wide by 0.125″, 0.25″, and 0.5″.
  • Apply double sided adhesive to an A2 card panel and peel back the release paper. Lay one of the embossed strips across the top of the card panel. Choose another colour, and add that underneath. Repeat until the entire card panel is complete.
  • Trim any uneven edges, then cut the panel in half diagonally using the guillotine.
  • Adhere one of the half panels of embossing to a white A2 notecard.
  • Add a die-cut sentiment running parallel with the heat embossing.
  • Optional – to finish, add some additional die-cut or other embellishments for decoration.

Jayne Vaughan

Hey! I’m Jayne, or you may know me as Card Days’ Night!

I live in Chester, UK, with my husband and two young daughters, and I work as a travel lawyer – so life is pretty full on! When I’m not busy with work, kids and family life, I love nothing more than spending time in my craft room. Cardmaking is my passion but I also love planning, memory keeping and sewing.

I love to explore new places, but I’m always happiest when I’m home!
