Hello everyone! My name is Lidiia @scrap_in_memory_, and today I am excited to guide you through the process of creating a mixed media canvas. In this project, we will enhance the background and overall composition using elements from the New Earthly Marvels release. And, of course, a touch of sparkle will also be included.
Let’s begin with a step-by-step tutorial on how to create this panel.

Mixed Media Canvas “Wedding by the Sea”

А тепер покровий план створення цього міксмедійного красеня:

Створення основи це перший і найголовніший етап в роботі:

1. Для основи панно я вибрала заготовку з МДФ розміром 19*25 см і обов’язково першим кроком покрила її 2 шарами білого акрилового Гессо від фіннабаєр.
2. Далі я працювала з інками в кольорах Stormy Sky, Uncharted mariner. Тонувавши верхнє поле світлішим кольором і опускаючись вниз темнішим кольором.
3. Настпуним моїм кроком було створення візерунку за допомогою трафарету і кольору Iced Spruce. Тим самим вирізнивши основу і добавивши їй акценту.
4. Далі вже я працювала з текстурною моделюючою пастою від фіннабаєр і звісно ж трафаретом з буквами і цеглинками. Так я вирізнила і добавила текстуру і після цього я посипала пасту блискітками від WOW в кольорі білому. Щоб моя текстура виглядала більш блискучою і ще більш текстурною, ніж просто паста. І на цьому етапі обов’язково все гарно просушити феном.
5. Після цього краї свого панно я урізноманітнила кракелюрною пастою від Ranger, яка дала мені необхідні тріщинки по краю роботи.
6. Далі щоб з’єднати між собою кольори по верху кракелюрної пасти я пройшлась також інками для виділення кожної тріщинки.
7. Останнім і завершальним кроком з основою було створення морського малюнку. Тут мені прийшло на допомогу трафарет у вигляді хвильок для низу панно і фоновий морський трафарет для верху панно. Для цього етапу я використала нову пудру Frosted Glasier. І після просушування всього панно моя робота з основою завершилась.

Готуємо елементи для роботи і складаємо композицію:

1. Для своєї роботи я вибрала колекцію Sunny Days від Lemoncraft і повирізала всі елементи з книжки з елементами.
2. Далі з білого кардстоку я вирубила ножами для вирубки гілочки, рамочки, якір і штурвал і зробила ембосинг на низ з пудрами Frosted Glasier, Aurora Borealis з новенького релізу.
3. Далі я підібрала кружево, квіти з тканини і почала збирати свою композицію так, щоб самі великі елементи були позаду, а молодята більш спереду. І тут я працюю по принципу багатошаровості так, щоб паперові висічки пересікались з вирубкою і з квітами, щоб вони чередувались у композиції від більшого до найменшого.
4. Останнім кроком у збірці композиції було добавлення надпису з чіпборду і звісно ж метеликів, які свідчать про легкість і любов.

Заключний етап:

1. Фінішним етапом у мене виступають топінги – паєтки, мікрослюти, арт-стоуни і перлинки у квітах. Всі свої топінги я клею на софт глосс гель від фіннабаєр.
2. Коли всі топінги на місці я злегка зверху посипаю глітером від WOW у білому кольорі.
3. Самий останній крок це додавання бризгів білого кольору і з’єднуючи все в одне єдине ціле.

English Translation:

And now, let’s move on to the step-by-step plan for creating this mixed media beauty:

Step 1. Creating the base – this is the very first and most important stage of the process.

1. For the base of the canvas, I chose an MDF blank measuring 19×25 cm. The very first step was to cover it with two layers of white acrylic Gesso by Finnabair.
2. Next, I worked with inks in the shades Stormy Sky and Uncharted mariner, blending the lighter color at the top and gradually moving to the darker one at the bottom.
3. The following step was to create a pattern using a stencil and the color Iced Spruce, which highlighted the background and added an accent.
4. After that, I applied Finnabair’s texture modeling paste with a stencil featuring letters and bricks. This helped me emphasize the design and add more texture. While the paste was still wet, I sprinkled it with WOW white Earth Sparkle to give the texture extra sparkle and dimension. At this stage, it is essential to dry everything thoroughly with a heat tool.
5. Next, I decorated the edges of the panel with crackle paste by Ranger, which created beautiful cracks around the border.
6. To blend the colors over the crackle paste and highlight each crack, I went over them with the inks again.
7. The final step for the base was creating a marine design. For this, I used a stencil with wave patterns at the bottom of the panel and a marine-themed stencil for the top. I applied the new Frosted Glacier embossing powder, and after drying the entire panel, my work on the base was complete.

Preparing the elements and building the composition:

1. For this project, I chose the Sunny Days collection by Lemoncraft and carefully cut out all the elements from the elements booklet.
2. Next, I die-cut branches, frames, an anchor, and a ship’s wheel from white cardstock. I then heat-embossed them using the new release powders Frosted Glacier and Aurora Borealis.
3. After that, I selected lace and fabric flowers and began arranging my composition. I placed the larger elements in the background, while positioning the bride and groom more towards the front. Here, I followed the principle of layering, ensuring that paper cutouts overlapped with die-cuts and flowers, alternating them in the composition from larger to smaller elements.
4. The final step in assembling the composition was adding a chipboard sentiment and, of course, butterflies — a symbol of lightness and love.

Final touches:

1. The finishing stage for me is adding toppings — sequins, microbeads, art stones, and pearls inside the flowers. I adhere all of them using Soft Gloss Gel by Finnabair.
2. Once all the toppings are in place, I lightly sprinkle white WOW glitter over the top.
3. The very last step is adding white splashes, which bring the whole project together into one harmonious piece.
