MIXED MEDIA CARD FEATURING MILLION DOLLAR DUO

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hello everyone, it’s Emilie here and today I’m sharing this mixed media card featuring, Million Dollar Duo. I decided to create a night sky with this duo, because the Embossing Powder and the Mixed Media Additive let out a beautiful shine when the light hits them, just like a clear night sky. I also found a new way to add mixed media additives to your creations, which i will be sharing with you.

Mixed Media Card Featuring Million Dollar Duo.

THE BACKGROUND

I began by spraying two different tones of blue Izink Dye Sprays onto a piece of kraft coloured card and left it to air dry. If you want to speed up the drying time, you can use your heat tool. I then used white acrylic paint with a star stencil to create a starry background. I wanted some of the stars to have that beautiful shine from the embossing powder so I cleaned up my stencil and re-positioned it onto the background and this time i applied embossing ink to certain areas of the stencil, after removing the stencil I sprinkled on the embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool. This gave the background texture and an extra layer to it.

THE FOCAL POINT

I used an outline die to cut out the moon from white card, I then drew round the outline and cut that out of white card so that i could make a centre for the moon. I wanted to add the Mixed Media Additives to the centre, but i also wanted to add colour to it, so I mixed together black and white acrylic paint to create a light grey, using a paint brush i painted the moon centre, then sprinkled the Mixed Media Additive over the top. Once the paint had dried the additives had stuck to it! To make sure they weren’t coming off, I rubbed my fingers over them and to my surprise they didn’t budge.

The floral elements were die cut out of background paper that i had created with spray inks and gel prints. The rose flower had an outline die to it, which I added embossing ink to and then the embossing powder. I also used my embossing ink pen to add the embossing powder to the flower centres before setting the powder with my heat tool. Lastly I glued all the floral elements together then adhered them to the moon. I then glued down the focal point to the background and stamped a sentiment with embossing ink then added white embossing powder over the top.

COMPLETING THE CARD

I completed the card by mounting the background to a piece of black card. Then glued it down to a white card base.

Thank you for stopping by. I look forward to sharing another creation with you all soon, until then have fun creating with your WOW! products
