Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Do you love a bit of shine? Of course you do! Well today, I’m bringing all the shine by mixing metallics, and colouring a heat embossed image with metallic markers.
Mixing metallics: markers and powders
I recently embossed on dark cardstock and fell in love with how dramatic it was. I’d used metallic embossing powder, and thought – I wonder if would work to colour a metallic image with metallic markers? So let’s find out!
I started out by heat embossing the Cartoon Tulips image from Altenew on to some Mushroom card stock, with super fine polished silver embossing powder. I then used the purple and pink metallic markers to colour in the petals to create a two-tone look. These markers are more like paint pens, and so don’t really blend together, so I made sure to add the lightest colour first then flick the darker colour up from the bottom to add some detail. I repeated the process with the stems and leaves, using the teal and green markers.
Because of the paint-like nature of the markers, I’d lost some of the detail in the tulips, so I decided to heat emboss the tulips again over the colouring, as I’d left my stamp in place in my MISTI.
To finish up the card, I heat embossed my sentiment in the same silver powder (the shine on this is INCREDIBLE), then die cut a torn edge to the left side of the card using MFT’s Torn Paper Edge die-namics. I added the panel to some fog cardstock, then finished with colour co-ordinating sequins.
