Time to celebrate

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hey crafty friends….welcome back and happy New Year, but ummm, how is 2024 already?!? Time just flies by! Anywho….welcome to mine (and the blog’s) first post of the new year. Its time to celebrate!

Did you know that you can for a limited time get a special bundle of each of the design team member’s top 5 WOW! embossing powders and at a special price?! Of course I had to use my top 5 powders for my post, because they are my favourites and they go together so well too! Of course you can get them all separately, but everything is better together!

Time to celebrate

Does New Years have a colour??? If it does, I feel these are it! I know what you may be thinking that these aren’t my usual bright colours, but every crafter needs some gorgeous neutrals in their crafty toolbox and you know what….these are exactly that! A perfectly curated set of 5 embossing powders that you will turn to over and over again. Follow along and I’ll show you how I used them!

To begin I diecut a piece of white cardstock for my heat embossing. I decided to diecut and then heat emboss this time, rather than the reverse of heat embossing a piece of cardstock and then diecut….you get much less wasted embossing powder this way.

A tip for when you have small pieces that you are heat embossing…grab a piece of low tack adhesive tape and stick your diecut piece to it, press it into your embossing ink pad, sprinkle on your heat embossing powder and then heat emboss it. This way you don’t have to try and hold onto it with a pair of tweezers trying to make sure not to leave a mark in the embossing once heated where the tweezers were (I’ve wrestled with this many times lol). It also gives you a handle if you will, to hold on to and to also protect your fingers from the heat. Once it is all heated, you wait 10-20 seconds until cool to the touch and the heat embossed diecuts peel right off the low tack tape.

In a particular order?

I chose to do my heat embossing in a specific order….to have the white in the middle and the others to somewhat mimic one another on either side of it going outwards (metallic, black, white, black and metallic).

From top to bottom I used Metallic Polished Gold Super Fine, Ebony, Powdered Snow, One Hundred & One and Metallic Platinum Sparkle. Each of these powders on their own are fabulous, but all together and they add that something special to your project!

Technique

As stated above, I pressed each of my diecut pieces into my WOW! Clear Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Ink Pad, sprinkled on each of the powders and then heat embossed them using my WOW! Dual Speed Heat Tool. I did a double layer of embossing powders on both Ebony and the Polished Gold powders, to ensure a nice and smooth and glossy finish to them….Hundred & One gives a beautiful glossy and marbled finish right away, thanks to the large pieces of powder in it. I adhered all of my heat embossed pieces to my cardbase and added my sentiment using some foam squares.

And there you have it! A clean and simple card that brings that WOW! thanks to these amazing embossing powders! If you haven’t checked out the rest of the teams top 5 bundles yet, head on over there now…..run don’t walk, because they won’t around forever at the special bundle price!

Take a look at your powders….what are your top 5? What do you turn to the most? I hope that this helps to motivate you to get out your top 5 embossing powders and make something special! Thank you so very much for stopping by and I hope that I have helped to inspire you in some small way. I wish you all the most wonderful and sparkly day and start to the new year!

Until next time, Michelle 🙂
