Heat Embossing on More Than Just White

Hey WOW! friends….it’s Michelle back with a brand new project for you. It’s getting to be that festive season, so of course we have to get making! Have you ever heat embossed on another colour than white? We normally use white as our base for heat embossing, as that shows the true colour and nature of the powders, however some really shine on a coloured base. I decided to use a matte gold cardbstock for my wreath and the Pastiche embossing powder really shines here! Keep reading and I will show you how gorgeous Heat Embossing on More Than Just White is .

  • Cut 2 of the wreaths using a matte gold cardstock. Using a brayer ink the wreaths using the Ultimate Embossing Ink Pad. While the ink is still wet, sprinkle on Pastiche embossing powder. Using a pair of tweezers, hold the wreath and heat the powder from underneath, so as not to blow any of the powder away since it has large chunks in it. Once cooled, add the 2 wreaths together, aligning them so that the gaps are filled in.
  • Cut out the pieces for the bow from white cardstock. Using the brayer, ink up all the pieces and add the Burgundy embossing powder and heat set. On the shadow layers and center of the bow repeat this process 4 times. I wanted a really nice and glossy finish to it. On the other layers of the bow, repeat this only 2x. Once they are all cool, adhere the bow together.
  • Heat emboss a small piece of the same cardstock and add some ink and heat emboss using the burgundy powder. Once cooled cut out your berries. Mine were small bundles of 3 berries together, which were backed onto the cream cardstock as the base. Add the berries to the wreath.
  • Cut a piece of ivory cardstock to 3.75×5″ and add some gold splatters using a small paintbrush. Set aside to dry. Once dry, add to a 4.25×5.5″ cardbase of the same cardstock.
  • Add the wreath on the lower right side of the cardbase, slightly hanging off the edge. Cut off any overhang. Add the bow to the left side of it slightly down abit from the center. Add your sentiment on the front and cut off any overhang.

Using a gold cardstock underneath this powder in particular gives you an incredible result. The Pastiche embossing powder consists of an opaque white base with gold sparkles and clear chunky mica flakes. The mica flakes are really what shine here, as the gold cardstock peeks through when they melt. It creates a gorgeous milky, marbled effect and never looks the same twice. I absolutely love how this turned out against the gold! I can only imagine how this would look on a dark base too! Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope that I have helped to inspire you! I wish you all a crafty and colourful day and until next time, Michelle 🙂
