Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hey crafty friends….it’s Michelle from made.by.michi back with you today with a colour combo that will add lots of sparkle to your day! Have you seen the Earth Sparkles Glitter from WOW!? These are loose premium bio-degradable glitters that are made from plant material and they are oh so sparkly! I decided to change it up and use a beautiful trio of metallic glitters for my project today.

To begin I backed a large piece of white cardstock with some double sided adhesive and then cut out 3 each of the twine and bows. Next I removed the backing paper from the double sided adhesive and then sprinkled on Flipper, Calamari and Scampi glitters, one colour on each of the twine and bows. I then burnished each of the glitters, which means is that I took my finger and rubbed the glitters into the adhesive. This not only ensures that they are adhered well but it also really brings out the sparkle in the glitters. Flipper is a beautiful light blueish-silver colour, Calamari is a light almost like a champagne gold and then Scampi is a deeper more true gold colour.

For the background, I did some ink blending using a light pink ink, going lighter in the middle. I dried the ink blending with my heat embossing tool as I was going to do some heat embossing and wanted to ensure the background was completely dry, so as not to have powder sticking where it wasn’t supposed to. As an extra bit of insurance, I tool an anti-static and went over the background. I placed an polka dot stencil over the background and smooshed my WOW! embossing ink pad over the entire stencil. I removed the stencil and sprinkled on some Bright White embossing powder and then heated that. I tried to make sure the heat embossing tool was nice and hot to try and minimize the paper warping, but alas it did warp a bit along the bottom edge as this was a 2 step stencil, so it was heated twice.
I added each of the twine and bows starting with Calamari, then Flipper and finished with Scampi using a liquid adhesive and was then added to my A2 cardbase. The sentiment was added using some foam adhesive and as if there wasn’t enough sparkle, I added a few more little iridescent gems.

And that’s a wrap (get what I did there??? lol) I absolutely love these glitters and the sparkle is just gorgeous! I really wish you could see how they sparkle in the photos. I hope that this motivates you to get out those glitters and add some sparkle to your crafting….the more the better lol. Thank you so very much for stopping by and I hope that I have helped to inspire you in some small way. I wish you all the most wonderful and sparkly day!
Until next time, Michelle 😉
