art journalling spread – explore embossing with jayne

Recently, the lovely people at Elizabeth Craft Designs sent us some of their products to play with, and I have been loving creating some art journal layouts using my embossing powders! I used mainly the new Mermaid Lagoon release, to keep the theme consistent throughout my journal.

Instructions: art journal spread

  • Spray background with mica/shimmer spray
  • Once dry, stamp and heat emboss various “paint splatter” stamps over the background. I used Kelp Forest and Chrysolite embossing powders.
  • Die cut a notebook page using the Notebook Fragments set. I used a pre-made background that I created with shimmer powders for my notebook page.
  • Stamp the slide frame from the Where Wings Wander stamp set using embossing ink, onto heat resistant acetate and heat set. Die-cut with the co-ordinating die.
  • Use the same die to die-cut some double-sided adhesive. Add to the reverse of the embossed frame, then adhere to the right page. Use the frame to die-cut your chosen photo and add to the centre of the frame.
  • Die-cut some additional paint splatters from the All Around Circles die set and heat emboss with Midnight Marina embossing powder. Add around the corners of the frame.
  • Cover some spare cardstock in embossing ink and heat emboss with Moonlight Marina powder. Use alpha dies to die cut “rainy day” and add to the page with liquid glue.
  • On the left hand page, use one of the Notebook Fragments dies to die cut two photos.
  • On the reverse of the photos, stamp the lined paper stamp from the Perfectly Imperfect set. Next, stamp “where” and “date”, then add your journalling.
  • Add the photos to the notebook paper with washi tape at the top only, so they flip up to revel the jouralling. Adhere the notebook paper to the left page.
  • Stamp some circles and paint splatters in co-ordinating colours.

Hey! I’m Jayne, or you may know me as Card Days’ Night!

I live in Chester, UK, with my husband and two young daughters, and I work as a travel lawyer – so life is pretty full on! When I’m not busy with work, kids and family life, I love nothing more than spending time in my craft room. Cardmaking is my passion but I also love planning, memory keeping and sewing.

I love to explore new places, but I’m always happiest when I’m home!
