countdown to christmas day 20

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hello, WOW! friends! Welcome to Countdown To Christmas Day 20! I hope you’ve been enjoying the event so far, and all of the fabulous inspiration! Today, I have a festive card to share with you featuring non-traditional colors.

For my project I’ve paired some gorgeous WOW! Embossing Glitters with Alex Syberia Designs’ Festive Poinsettia product suite and Catherine Pooler ink.

To start, I inked up the Festive Poinsettia Stencils with the following colors of ink: Oh Boy!, Fiesta Blue, and Uptown for the teal foliage and It’s a Girl, Sparkling Berry, and Pucker Up for the pink leaves. I used only the two lighter pink shades on the smaller leaves and used Catching Rays for the center. Be sure to dry the ink before adding the detail layers to the pink leaves.

Heat Embossing Details

I applied embossing ink through the detail stencils with a dauber and then sprinkled on embossing glitters in complimentary colors. For the darker pink, I used Petalicious and applied Bubblicious to the lighter pink leaves. I heat-set one powder before stenciling and applying the second powder. Next, I diecut the poinsettia with the coordinating die before setting it aside to work on my background.

Onto a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of white cardstock, I blended Oh Boy! and Fiesta Blue inks, fading the color to white. Using a paintbrush, I added water droplets, which I patted dry with a towel. After drying the background with my heat tool, I stamped the pine branch from the Festive Poinsettia stamp set several times with embossing ink, applied Dress Blues Embossing Glitter, and heat-set the images. I then stamped a sentiment from the set with embossing ink and embossed it with Polished Gold Super Fine Embossing Powder.

I adhered my poinsettia to the background with foam tape and trimmed the excess. After matting the panel with blue cardstock, I affixed it to a white card and finished with some gold pearls.
