Creating a Stunning Thankful Wreath Card with WOW! Quad Building Blocks

Heat embossing is a fantastic technique that adds dimension, shine, and a professional finish to your cards. Today, we’ll be using our WOW! Quad Building Blocks embossing powders to create a stunning Thankful Wreath card. If you’ve never tried heat embossing before, you’re in for a treat—watching those powders transform is pure magic!

  1. Prepare Your Paper: Start with a piece of watercolor paper.
  2. Stamp the Wreath: Using the WOW! Clear Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Pad, stamp the large wreath from your Thankful Wreath Stamp Set onto the paper.
  3. Apply Embossing Powder: Cover the stamped image with Asphalt Embossing Powder from the WOW! Quad Building Blocks.
  4. Heat Set: Heat set the powder until it’s smooth and melted.
  5. Pro Tip: A slow drying embossing pad ensures you have ample time to cover your stamped image evenly with embossing powder.
  6. Coloring Technique: Use Distress Ink Re-inkers as watercolors to add vibrant hues to your embossed wreath.
  7. Die-Cutting: Once the wreath is completely dry, use the matching dies to cut it out.
  8. Pro Tip: Watercoloring embossed images adds depth and interest to your designs. Allow the colors to blend naturally for a beautiful effect.
  9. Stamp the Sentiment: On a scrap of watercolor paper, stamp the “Thank You” sentiment with the WOW! Clear Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Pad.
  10. Apply Embossing Powder: Cover the sentiment with Cement powder from the WOW! Quad Building Blocks and heat set.
  11. Die-Cutting: Once cool, cut out the sentiment with the matching die.
  12. Prepare Your Background: Cut a piece of watercolor paper to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.
  13. Stencil Application: Using a foam blending tool, apply WOW! Clear Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Ink through a 6 x 6 stencil.
  14. Add Embossing Powders: Apply Brick and Granite powders from the WOW! Quad Building Blocks selectively across the stenciled panel.
  15. Heat Set: Heat set the powders until smooth and melted.
  16. Pro Tip: Mixing embossing powders can create dynamic and unique backgrounds. Experiment with different combinations to see what works best for your design.
  17. Attach the Background: Attach the stenciled background panel to an A2 Top Folding card base.
  18. Add the Wreath: Use foam tape to add the wreath to the center of the card.
