Embedded Embossing | with Christine

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hello! I’m Christine and today I thought we’d have a play with a technique I like to call Embedded Embossing, working with some lovely spring colours of embossing powders which are featured in the Spring Has Sprung promotion on the Wow websites!

Step By Step Tutorial

  1. Die-cut the Woodware Fragment die from white linen cardstock, trim a panel of smooth white card to roughly A7 in size and create your top folding 10.5 cm x 13.5 cm white card blank.
  2. Use a brayer to apply your ultra slow drying wow ink to the A7 piece of white card, then sprinkle on 3 stripes of Mare Embossing powder, make sure to shake first to mix up all the particle sizes, then decant back into the pot.
  3. Add on some Ultra High Pastel Spring Glow to the remaining areas, we will be adding a second layer, so don’t worry if the black areas aren’t covered.
  4. Heat your panel from underneath on the lowest setting of the wow heat embossing tool and allow to cool.
  5. Apply more ink over the panel and add more Mare powder to the Pastel Spring Glow areas, then sprinkle on a few more Ultra High particles over the original Mare areas. Again heat from underneath on the low setting until everything has melted and allow to cool.
  6. Treat your embossed card with anti-static powder, then stamp your lattice design over the panel in your ultra slow drying wow ink and add on some Dried Lavender Powder, tip off the excess and decant back into the pot.
  7. Using the low setting, heat from above, moving to the next section the instant you see the powder melt. You must heat from above this time, otherwise if the lower layers become too molten, the pattern will bleed into the background rather than staying nice and crisp.
  8. Create a butterfly embellishment using the Dried Lavender powder, stamp a sentiment and mat the sentiment and main panel with a skinny black border of card.
  9. Layer everything together with foam tape and finish with a few jelly heart embellishments.
