EMBOSSING INK 3 WAYS – ADD TEXTURE & SHINE TO YOUR CARDS!

Today, I’m going to show you some of the different ways you can add embossing ink to your projects, so you can add texture, shine and sparkle wherever you need it!

In this post, I’ll give you step-by-step instructions to create this shaped birthday card, but for all the detail and lots of extra hints and tips, please do join me over on YouTube, where I have a full process video!

Instructions

  1. Die cut all of the pieces from the Spellbinders birthday cake dies in your desired colours of cardstock.
  2. Assemble the cake, macarons and bunting with liquid glue.
  3. Make sure your embossing ink pad is nice and juicy by re-inking it with the rollerball / freestyle tool – I use circular motions all over the surface of the ink pad.
  4. Press the chocolate frosting die cut into your ink pad, cover with clear gloss and heat set. Repeat for the drips of frosting.
  5. Using an embossing pen, colour over the bunting, then add Frosted Glass embossing powder and heat set.
  6. Using the mixed media brush, add embossing ink to the tops of the macarons, then add Sparkles (I used Sparkling Sugar and Cotton Candy).
  7. Finish assembling your die cut elements.
  8. Create a shaped card based using the cake die – fold a piece of card in the same colour as the cake, and add the cake die over the top – making sure that this sticks out above the fold, so that the fold doesn’t get die -cut – and run it through your die cutting machine.
  9. Add the cake to the card base and you’re done! A birthday card with tonnes of shine, sparkle and texture.
