Glue stick polka dots | with Christine

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hello! I’m Christine and I thought today we could play around with a fun polka dot technique using a glue stick with the FABULOUS BRAND NEW Foraged Relics Quad of Embossing Powders from Seth Apter! This is such a fun technique to try and works so brilliantly with any of your Mixed Media style embossing powders! The Earthy tones from this collection also work wonderfully for a more masculine colour scheme for a Valentine’s Card too!

Step By Step Tutorial

Cut a piece of white card down to 10 x 13 cm (or your favourite size) then take your glue stick, twist it up so a mm or 2 is out of the top, then press it onto your card and twist to get a nice gluey dot.
Depending on your colour scheme, you might want to work one dot at a time to avoid contamination or to keep vastly different colours separate. But for this card, I covered the background with dots first, making sure some go off the edge and just giving a nice even spread of them across the background.
When you have all your glue dots, pick your first colour and add it to 2-3 dots, making sure to tip the panel over quickly so the powder doesn’t drop onto too much of the other dots. Because we’re working with quite similar colours in this quad a little contamination is fine.
Keep repeating this until all the dots are covered and you’ve used all 4 colours from the quad.
Once everything is covered make sure your heat tool is nice and hot and heat from above on the lower setting. Because the glue is really holding all the mixed media particles from the powders into place, it’s totally fine to heat from above for this technique.
Now everything is heat set, simply finish your card with a die-cut and shadowed ‘LOVE’ sentiment, olive green onto white, add the letters to a torn piece of vellum and finish with a wordie too.
