Hello everyone, Emilie here. Today I have a thank you card that features vellum and the embossing duo ‘night on the town’. Heat embossing onto vellum brings added interest and texture to any project. Let’s get into it!
Heat Embossing Onto Vellum
I began by creating a background print, this was done with inks and a gelli plate. I used a brayer to blend the inks together then placed white cardstock over the top. Pressing the cardstock down with my hands so that the ink would transfer from the gelli plate onto the cardstock. To add some detail to my print I used a text stamp and stamped it in dark blue ink. I also wanted to add some texture to my background, so I stencilled on some embossing ink and added Sparkling Sunset embossing powder to it.
For the focal point, I used a layering stamp set and vellum paper. Firstly, I stamped the outline with embossing ink onto the vellum and then added the ‘Sparkling Sunset’ embossing powder over it. I tapped off the excess powder and heat set it with my heat tool on setting 1. This was because vellum paper is rather thin and it can warp from getting too hot. Secondly, I took the next part of the layering stamp and lined it up to the outline. I then inked it up with embossing ink and added the ‘Glass Of Fizz’ embossing powder and repeating the heating process. I made three flowers and alternated the embossing powder colours for them. Lastly I added Metallic Gold Sparkle embossing glitter to the flower centers before die cutting them out with the cutting die. I used liquid glue and pinflair glue to adhere down the flowers.
To finish off the card I die cut out the thanks sentiment from white cardstock and glued it down with liquid glue.
