It’s Jayne here, and today, I will be using my embossing powders to make a masculine card! If you’ve ever wondered whether you can use heat embossing on a masculine card, the answer is a big yes! Wow has such an amazing range of powders available, and those that are textured, have mixed media vibes or are in earthy colours, are perfect for these types of projects!
Masculine Cards
Instructions
- Cut a piece of white cardstock (I used Wow’s superior smooth cardstock) to 4″ x 5.25″.
- Score along the short side of the card panel at 1/2″ intervals.
- Take a brown ink pad and swipe it across the raised side of the card to give a woodgrain effect.
- Cover a piece of cardstock with embossing ink (I used a brayer), and add embossing powders in strips/sections. The colours I used were Asphalt, Granite (each from the Building Blocks Quad) and Gilded Patina (from the Enchanted Alchemy Quad) Heat set.
- Trim the cardstock down to make thin strips – I used a variety of widths from 1/4 to 1/2″.
- Adhere the strips to the card panel with liquid glue.
- Take another piece of scrap cardstock and cover with embossing ink, then pour over gold embossing powder. Heat set.
- Die cut the sentiment and hearts from the gold embossed cardstock. Die cut the shadow die from adhesive vellum.
- Arrange the sentiment and embellishments how you wish on the cardstock and adhere with liquid glue – be sure to press down firmly and/or use an acrylic block or similar to help adhere elements to the textured heat embossing.
- Add the finished card panel to a white A2 notecard.
