Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!
Have you seen the fabulous BRAND NEW Mermaid Lagoon Collection from WOW!? There’s a stunning collection of greens, teals and blues in the new release, and I just had to use them all to create a fabulous Plaid Background using Seth’s Mixed Media brush! I skipped the pink for this card, but I think it would also look fab with that pop of pink too! Have you even tried this kind of background before? Christine xxx
Step By Step Tutorial
- Take a piece dark blue card, roughly A5 in size, or just larger than you want your finished background to be, pick two colours to go horizontally and two colours to go vertically in your plaid design.
- Use your Mixed Media fluid brush to add your first set of stripes to your background card, going vertically down the card in a portrait orientation. Add your Kelp Forest Embossing Powder, tip off the excess and heat set.
- Treat your card with anti-static, WOW’s powders are treated for static, but when working on top of heat set embossing powder, I find it best to use anti-static powder to keep everything neat.
- Add your next set of stripes to your card, this time going horizontally and using the Chrysolite powder. Repeat this process until you’ve used all 4 colours to building your initial chunky plaid background.
- To add some delicate detail into the plaid, use your WOW Embossing Pen to add some vertical and horizontal lines onto your plaid design and this time use the Moonlight Marina colour (the one we based our cardstock colour on) and heat set.
- Trim your finished plaid design down to 10 x 13 cm picking your favourite section and avoiding the ending of any of the lines.
- Add your die-cut sentiment and a selection of sequins and gems, then add your finished panel to your 10.5 cm x 13.5top folding white card blank.
