Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hello friends…Michelle here and I’m back with another fabulous colour combination for you! Have you ever heard of the old fashion rule that you cannot mix metallics??? Well I’ve never liked that rule and today we are going to go against all that is right in fashion and mixing all the metallics, because who says you need to follow the rules. I’ve always loved the look of gold and silver together and I’m throwing in one more metallic to the mix to make it even more amazing! Let’s get started, shall we.

To start I diecut all of my pieces from plain white cardstock and then smooshed them into the WOW! Embossing Ink Pad and then sprinkled on Metallic Silver, Metallic Gold Rich and Metallic Copper embossing powders to each of their respective die cut pieces. I embossed them each twice, as I wanted a really nice and smooth surface to them, as they would be the focus of my card. I used the fine tip of a pair of tweezers to hold each piece while I heat embossed.

I wanted to add a bit of sparkle to it, so I got out the same powders but in their sparkley versions. I diecut the same pieces again and heat embossed them using Metallic Silver Sparkle, Metallic Gold Sparkle and Metallic Copper Sparkle. As these have glitter in them you need to heat them from behind and not directly overtop, as the air from the heat embossing tool will blow around the glitter and you’ll lose some of the gorgeous sparkle. For the sentiment I heat embossed it using the metallic silver and then went back in with my embossing ink pad and only touched the lower half of the stamp to it and then sprinkled on very lightly the metallic copper powder. This kind of gave the lower half of it a pinkish hue. The subsentiment was embossed using the metallic gold powder. I added all of my embossed diecut pieces to a black card front over top of of some gold splatters, overlapping the coordinating pieces to allow only some of the sparkle to come through.

And that’s it…..I love the dramatic effect the metallics give against the black and these metallics are gorgeous together! Next time go against all the rules and do what you love. You may just be pleasantly surprised. Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have the most wonderful and colourful day!
Until next time, Michelle 🙂

Michelle Burnier
Hello…..my name is Michelle and I’m a Canadian girl living in the beautiful countryside of Switzerland with my Swiss husband and 2 cats. I love all things crafty, shiny and glittery! Besides my love for papercrafting, I also enjoy crocheting and making felt flowers.
My papercrafting journey began about 20 years ago when I walked into my little local stamp and scrapbooking store to make a scrapbook album for my parents’ 20th wedding anniversary. I eventually moved on to cardmaking and haven’t looked back since.
