Mixing Opposites with WOW!

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hey WOW! friends…..it’s Michelle with you today sharing with you a new and fabulous colour combination. When I was younger I was always told that you shouldn’t mix red and pink. Well that’s exactly what we are going to do today…..mixing opposites with WOW! We are going to through that old rule out the window and do whatever our crafty hearts want! Let’s get to it, shall we.

Mixing Opposites with WOW!

To begin my project, I took the heart background from the Background Art Fab Foiler pack and did some ink blending using 2 shades of pink Distress Inks, going dark to lighter on the bottom of it. I then ran it through my Minc machine using a piece of Red Fab Foil and trimmed it down 1/4″ on all sides to create a border on the finished card.

Next I cut out a heart outline and pressed it into the WOW! Embossing Ink Pad and then sprinkled on Primary Apple Red embossing powder and melted it using the heat embossing tool. I repeated this process a second time, to ensure a beautifully glossy and smooth embossed image. I smooshed a small piece of white cardstock into the heat embossing ink pad and then sprinkled on some Made You Blush embossing powder and heated it from the back of the cardstock, as if you go directly on top of it before it has started to melt, the glitter will be blown off of it. Once that was cooled I cut I cut out the X and O. I heat embossed the small heart to go in the middle of the O using the same Primary Apple Red embossing powder and the large heart diecut. Doesn’t the O with the small red heart look like a cookie lol.

Assembling the card

The small sub-sentiment Hugs & Kisses was trimmed from the Sweet Sentiments Fab Foilers pack and was foiled using the same red foil as for the background. The background was added to an A2 cardbase using liquid adhesive. The embossed heart, XO diecuts and the sub-sentiment were all added to the right side of the card using foam squares. A few final touches of silver gems finished it off.

I really love how this turned out and these colours go so well together! This just proves that you don’t have to follow the rules…if you want to mix all the colours, then go for it! I’m definitely going to g! I hope that I have helped to inspire you in some small way to get out all of the colours they told you you shouldn’t put together and create something magical by mixing Opposites with WOW! Thank you so much for stopping by today and I wish you all the most wonderful and colourful day!

Until next time, Michelle 🙂

Hello…..my name is Michelle and I’m a Canadian girl living in the beautiful countryside of Switzerland with my Swiss husband and 2 cats. I love all things crafty, shiny and glittery! Besides my love for papercrafting, I also enjoy crocheting and making felt flowers.

My papercrafting journey began about 20 years ago when I walked into my little local stamp and scrapbooking store to make a scrapbook album for my parents’ 20th wedding anniversary. I eventually moved on to cardmaking and haven’t looked back since.
