Today I’m sharing a soft and dreamy pastel kids card using WOW Changers embossing powders, where I combined delicate colors, layered elements and subtle shimmer to create a magical composition. For this project, I focused on building dimension and texture by combining WOW embossing powders with Changers, which allowed me to achieve unique finishes and enhance both the background and decorative elements.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 — Create the card base and prepare elements

First, I created the card base using WOW Superior Smooth White Cardstock. I cut a piece measuring 15 x 30.5 cm and scored it in the center using two score lines to form a strong and neat card base. Next, I prepared the patterned paper from Craft O’Clock:

• 2 pieces measuring 14.8 x 14.8 cm for the front and back of the card
• 1 piece measuring 13.7 x 13.7 cm to create dimension on the front

I mounted the smaller panel onto foam to add depth to the composition.

To enhance the layered look, I inked all the edges of the patterned paper using a Ranger ink pad, which adds softness and helps visually separate each layer.

Step 2 — Add texture and work with WOW Changers embossing powders

Next, I moved on to creating texture and preparing decorative elements using WOW embossing powders and WOW Changers embossing powders. For the background, I added texture through a stencil and heat embossed it using Wisteria Wonder embossing powder, which gives a soft, shimmering effect perfect for a pastel theme.

Then I prepared the main elements for the composition:

• chipboard (large decorative frame and ice cream elements)
• die-cut leaves and branches

I used three variations: Texture, Sheen and Glisten.
The key feature of this range is the ability to mix them with standard WOW embossing powders, creating completely new effects depending on the proportions and combinations used.

In this project, I decided to experiment with all three Changers:

• I used Texture on its own mixed with one embossing powder;
• and combined Glisten and Sheen together with other embossing powders.

To achieve interesting finishes, I combined different embossing powders and applied them using a WOW Mixed Media Embossing Brush, which is perfect for covering larger surfaces evenly.

I also enhanced Dappled Coral embossing powder by mixing it with WOW Changers Glisten, creating a more sparkly and textured effect. This demonstrates how WOW Changers embossing powders can completely transform standard powders into something unique.

All embossed elements were heat set using a heat tool to create a smooth, glossy finish.

At this stage, I also selected additional decorative elements:

• paper cut-outs from the collection
• fabric flowers
• lace

I began planning the composition by arranging all elements before gluing, ensuring balance between colors, shapes and layers.

Step 3 — Build the layered composition

Once everything was prepared, I started assembling the composition. I built it in layers:

• large focal elements first
• supporting elements around them
• smaller details to fill gaps and add interest

I used foam adhesive to create dimension and make the composition more dynamic and visually rich.

The circular decorative frame helps to unify the design and draws attention to the central elements.

Step 4 — Final details and finishing touches

To finish the card, I added sequins and sparkly accents, including WOW Earth Sparkles, to bring everything together.

These final details help unify the composition and add a magical shimmer that enhances the overall look of this handmade kids card.

As a result, I created a soft and elegant pastel kids card using WOW Changers embossing powders, full of delicate textures, layered details and beautiful shimmer.
