Hi friends…..it’s Michelle back with you today with a new and fantastic colour combination! I did it a little different this time and instead of heat embossing the colours separately, I actually mixed them together to make my own custom colour. Also…did you know that in addition to the gorgeous rainbow of embossing powders, that WOW! also has their own line of stamp sets and stencils??! Well today I have used a combination that is like a PB and J sandwich…they got together perfectly and is sending paper hugs. Let’s get to it, shall we!

Mixing the Custom Embossing Powder

• To make my custom embossing powder, I picked 2 transparent colours, as I wanted the black embossed image to still shine through. I chose 2 bright colours, Primary Fuchsia Fusion and Primary Blue Topaz, that go beautifully together.
• I have some extra plastic containers from WOW! (these are the same plastic containers that the powders come in) that I used. Make sure not to add your WOW! powders to another type of plastic container or use any sort of plastic spoon nor measuring utensil to scoop out your powders, as this will introduce static them and they are pre-treated to be anti-static.
• I used a metal scoop to add my powders to the empty jar. I did 2 scoops of the Fuchsia and 1 scoop of the Topaz, as I wanted the fuchsia to be more prominent. I didn’t shake the powders too much or mix too well. Just 1 small little shake, so as to try and keep them somewhat separate.

Assembly of the Card

1. Cut a piece of white cardstock to 4.25×5.5″. Take the large envelope image from the Paper Hugs Stamp Set and stamp it on the upper half of the cardstock using Onyx Black Versafine Ink. This is a pigment ink, so it will stay wet long enough to allow you to add your embossing powder. Sprinkle Clear Gloss Super Fine Embossing Powder over this and heat emboss.
2. Next take the Heartfelt Stencil and position the solid heart image over the center of the heat embossed envelopes. This heart stencil fits perfectly…..I mean perfectly inside this image and it’s like they were made for one another (like PB and J)….were they??? Mask off all the other heart images on the stencil, so as not to risk getting ink on the others. Go direct with your embossing ink pad to the paper and ensure a well and evenly coated surface with the ink. Remove the stencil and sprinkle the custom mixed embossing powder over the image. Once the image is fully covered, tap off any excess powder and heat set using your heat embossing tool. Be sure that it is preheated well before going to the image, as you don’t want to disturb the previous black embossing of the envelope image.
3. Add the sentiments from the same stamp set on the top and bottom of the image and stamp using Versafine Onyx Ink and sprinkle on Clear Gloss Super Fine Embossing Powder (the same as the large envelope image) and heat emboss. Again, ensure that the heat tool is heated up well, as you don’t want to ruin any of the previous embossing. This step could also be done at the same time as heat embossing the envelope image, to try to limit too much warping of the cardstock from the heat. I did get some warping of the paper, so I lightly misted the back of the cardstock and placed under something relatively heavy to flatten it…it works like a charm everytime.
4. Trim down the cardstock 1/8″ on the top and bottom and 1/4″ of the left and right of it. Using some double sided tape, add a piece of white and black striped paper to the left side of the white cardstock and make sure that the finished width of it, incl. the striped cardstock, is 4″ wide. Add some foam tape to the back of the trimmed cardstock and add to the A2 top folding cardbase.

Have you ever mixed your powders together to create your own that is unique to you??? This was the first time I tried it and it definitely won’t be the last! I love how the mix of these 2 powders gives off a bit of a purple vibe, but you can still see each colour. They compliment one another beautifully!
