Hi everyone, it’s Katarina here, and today I’m sharing a slimline butterfly card featuring layered backgrounds and heat embossed focal elements using the beautiful Speckled Sky embossing powder from the latest release, the Ethereal Meadows Collection inspired by Brennan Keane.
For this design, I wanted to focus on how a strong focal point can be supported by softer, layered elements in the background. The card begins with a slimline base, which allows the design to feel more open and gives the butterflies space to stand out.
A closer look at what’s happening in this card – watch the video above for the complete tutorial.
Step‑by‑Step Overview
Card Base & Layers
Cut a 7 × 3.5″ card base.
Add a purple ink-blended panel, slightly smaller.
Layer a further white panel, reduced again in size.
Embossed Background
Emboss the white panel using a butterfly embossing folder.
Adhere all layers to the card base.
Butterflies & Sentiment
Stamp and heat emboss three butterflies using Speckled Sky powder.
Arrange and adhere as a focal trio.
Add a sentiment and finish with rhinestones.
