Create a Shiny Flower Garden with Fab Foils

Hi WOW! friends and welcome back! It’s Michelle with you and today I am going back to my roots with WOW! but adding a little twist…..shine that is! I am re-creating my very first project I made as a member of the design team, except I had used embossing powder. Today I am turning it up a notch with a project that is full of fabulous shine! For my project today I have used a selection of the Fab Foils and made a shiny flower garden! Let’s get started and I’ll show you how to Create A Shiny Flower Garden with Fab Foils.

  • Pick out your fab foils for the flowers and leaves. I used Pink, Turquoise, Aqua Satin and Fuschia Satin. I also used the Fab Foilers Solid Panels, as that is what you need for the foils to adhere to. These type of foils will only adhere to toner, so if you have a printer that prints using black toner, then you have exactly what you need for these types of foils.
  • Turn on your Minc machine or laminator, so it has more than enough time to heat up. Cut pieces of the fab foiler solid panels and foil large enough for each of the flowers in the diecut background. Once your machine is heated properly, send each piece of foil with the fab foiler through the machine. Ensure that the shiny coloured side of the foil is facing up and not face-to-face with the black side(toner) of the fab foiler. You need the dull side of the foil against the black toner of the fab foilers. Once sent through, allow a few seconds for it cool down slightly before ypu remove the clear protective layer on the foil.
  • Place each of the foiled solid panels under the coordinating flowers and leaves on the metal die and send through your diecutting machine. Cut out 2 of the backgrounds from white cardstock.
  • Cut a piece of white cardstock to A2 size – 4.25″x5.5″. Using gold paint, add some splatters all over the cardstock. Go as heavy as you want, as alot of it will be covered up. Once dry, adhere the 2 white diecut pieces together and adhere to your gold paint splattered background and add this to your A2 cardbase. Add in each of the diecut flowers to their co-ordinating spots on the background.
  • Diecut your large hello from both white and black cardstock. Adhere these together using glue, leaving a slight shadow with the black peeking out from underneath. Heat emboss a small sub-sentiment using Super Fine White Embossing Powder on black cardstock. Trim this and adhere both sentiments to your cardfront.

This is a quick and easy way to add that WOW! (pun intended) to your projects. I love the mix of shiny foils and satin. The stain has kind of a matte look to them. However, despite the matte foils, there is no shortage of shine here! I had lots of fun creating this bold flower garden using the gorgeous foils that WOW! has to offer. Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope that I have helped to inspire you! I wish you all a crafty and colourful day and until next time!

Hello…..my name is Michelle and I’m a Canadian girl living in the beautiful countryside of Switzerland with my Swiss husband and 2 cats. I love all things crafty, shiny and glittery! Besides my love for papercrafting, I also enjoy crocheting and making felt flowers.

My papercrafting journey began about 20 years ago when I walked into my little local stamp and scrapbooking store to make a scrapbook album for my parents’ 20th wedding anniversary. I eventually moved on to cardmaking and haven’t looked back since.
