Hi, fellow embossing lovers! I’m thrilled to share a fun and creative technique that will add a touch of magic to your cardmaking projects: ink swiping with embossing powder. This technique is perfect for creating stunning backgrounds, adding dimension, and making your designs truly stand out. Let’s dive into the details and get those creative juices flowing! Don’t miss the full video tutorial for all the info.
For this project, you’ll need a 3D embossing folder and a plain white piece of cardstock. I’m using Wow! Smooth White cardstock for because it is easy to ink blend. Start by applying ink blending colors to the areas where the flowers will be on the embossing folder. Don’t worry about being too precise – you can be messy with this step!
Next, run the embossing folder through the die cutting machine so that it presses the image into the colors.

You should now have an impressed image on white card stock. Take a navy ink pad and swipe the entire page to catch all the details and create an image that looks like it is on navy paper.
Next, add detailed lines tracing parts of the flowers and leaves with the embossing pen. Add coordinating embossing powder to the wet ink.

After heating all the embossing powder, simply add a sentiment to complete your masterpiece! I used the same white cardstock to cut out the word “hello” and then applied the blue ink pad to it, ensuring the sentiment perfectly coordinates with the design.
I hope you enjoyed this easy, yet beautiful card.
