Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!
Hello everyone, Emilie here. Today I’m sharing with you this inspirational card to help kick away the January blues (if you’re feeling them) and to show off the magic of translucent powders, and how just one colour can change on a coloured background. Let’s begin.
The magic of translucent powders
THE BACKGROUND
I started my background by spraying 3 different coloured ink sprays onto some white cardstock and leaving it to dry. Once it was dry I inked up a background stamp with WOWs embossing ink pad and stamping it onto my coloured cardstock using my stamping platform.
APPLYING EMBOSSING POWDER
I added primary fuchsia fusion translucent powder by pouring it from the pot all over the inked image. Fuchsia fusion is a gorgeous bright pink. Tapping off the excess and pouring it back into the pot. With my heat tool on setting 2, I heated from underneath and above to heat set the embossing powder on the background.
COLOUR CHANGE
Can you see where the blue ink is, the embossing now looks purple and in the top left corner it looks orange. That’s the magic of translucent powders.
Lastly I went around the edges of the background with some scissors to create a distress look.
DIE CUTTING
Next I die cut out the word YOU from WOWs cardstock and masked off the top so I could get a straight line when inking up the bottom, repeating the same steps to apply the powder. I then stamp some inspiring words onto the YOU with primary ebony embossing powder. To finish I raised the YOU up with foam pads and used liquid glue to stick the background to my card base.
