Hello everyone it’s Emilie here. Today I am putting in The WOW! factor to layering dies. This is a fun and interesting way to add colour, texture and everything WOW, into your dies.
The WOW! Factor To Layering Dies.
I started off by die cutting out each layer of the hummingbird, which has 8 layers in total and 2 layers of the flowers, from WOWs white Superior smooth cardstock. The embossing powders I’m using are from the trio sets Dappled Pearl Effects and Pastel Pearls.
HUMMINGBIRD For my 1st layer I added orange ink by ink blending with a blending brush, on the wing and back. I then inked up the 2nd and 3rd layer with my embossing ink and added Newport embossing powder. I tapped off the excess powder and heat set with my dual heat tool on setting 2. Layers 4-7 I inked up again with embossing ink and this time added Laguna embossing powder. Layer 8 is the eye and bill, I only used the eye of this layer and coloured it in with a black marker pen. I then adhered all the layers together. These gorgeous embossing powders really do help bring the hummingbird to life.
FLOWERS For the flowers I inked up the steams from the 1st layer with my embossing ink pad and then added oceanside embossing powder to them and heat set. I then softly ink blended the flowers pink. The 2nd layer of this die I ink blended again in pink then added embossing ink and hint of pink embossing powder to give them a beautiful shimmer of extra colour. After I heat setted them, I added foam squares to each of the flowers and adhered them on top of the 1st layer.
I glued down the flowers to a watercolour effect background that I had made and raised the hummingbird up with foam squares. I finished with a sentiment and my card was complete.
