Triple Layered Embossing

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hey friends….it’s Michelle back with you today with another fabulous colour combination, and this time it is a fun one….and perhaps a bit unexpected too. I’ve also put the focus on the sentiment this time doing some triple layered embossing. Well the colours aren’t technically layered one on top of another, but rather together to form a fabulous combination. Let’s get to it, shall we!

Triple Layered Embossing

  1. For the large sentiment , I used a triple layer stencil, which allows you to add some gorgeous colour and dimension to it. For each of the layers, I adhered the stencil to my white cardstock well. I then went direct with the embossing ink pad to each layer of the stencil. I removed the stencil and then added each colour of embossing powder. For the first layer I added With An Olive, 2nd layer is Primary Fuchsia Fusion and the 3rd and final layer is Oceanic. After each layer I heat set them, using my Heat Embossing tool. I made sure the heat tool was nice and hot before each layer, to minimize the amount of time the heat would be on the embossing, as I didn’t want to risk burning or re-melting the previous layers once I got to the 3rd layer. Diecut the sentiment as well as 2 more blank sentiments and then adhere them altogether. These 2 extra sentiments will help to add dimension to it, without the need for foam adhesive.
  2. Stamp the background floral image and using the coordinating stencils colour in the images, using shades of blue and green. Do not use the stencils to colour in the center of the flowers, but rather using your WOW! Embossing Pen, colour in each of the flower centers. I did this one at a time, so I could make sure the ink remained nice and juicy. After each flower center was inked up, I added Oceanic embossing powder and did 2 layers for each flower center. Using one of the colours in the sentiment helps to tie in the flowers to the heat embossed sentiment. Trim down the background to 4×5.25″. The smaller sub-sentiment was heat embossed using the same Oceanic embossing powder. Okay confession time…I think this the first time I have heat embossed a sentiment using anything other than black and I love it! I know…I know lol
  3. Add some white ink splatters using a white gouache. Once this was dry do some light ink blending around the outside of the background using the same ink as the leaves on the flowers, but do not add any more ink to your blending brush/tool. Simply use any ink that remains on your tool.
  4. Attach your floral background to an A4 (4.25×5.5″) sized cardbase and the add the diecut sentiments using a mix of glue and foam adhesive. Add a few sparkly gems to finish it off and voila!

I love how these colours look together….a bit unexpected and punchy for Spring! Get out you embossing powders and put togetehr some fun and unexpected colour combinations…you never know how fabulous they will be together! Thank you so much for stopping by today and I wish you all the most wonderful and colourful day!
