A WOW! Mottled Skyline

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hey WOW! friends….it’s Michelle back on the blog today with a night skyline will sure WOW! you. The colour palette I used for my project includes some of favourites and some work horse powders. Let’s get to it and make a gorgeous WOW! Mottled Skyline!

A Mottled Skyline.

  1. Create an ombre watercolour wash background on watercolour paper, using a mix of blue, purple and a bit of black. Work in layers until you get a soft ombre finish. Set aside to dry.
  2. Once the background is dry add white splatters. Allow to dry and add gold splatters. Once dry trim to 3.75×5″.
  3. Die cut the skyline on a piece of white cardstock. Ink up the die cut with the embossing ink pad, pressing the diecut into the pad or vice versa.
  4. Using your fingers, sprinkle on randomly Opaque Bright White Ultra High , Oceanside, Granite, Metallic Gold Rich Ultra High and Primary Ebony Ultra High embossing powders. Use a pair of tweezers and hold the diecut on the edge and heat the powders from below. You want to heat from below, so as not blow that larger ultra high powders off the diecut.
  5. Once the powders start to melt, continue heating from the front of it and move the powders around abit while they are still hot enough to move. Add more powder to it as you see fit.
  6. Die cut a second skyline from matte gold metallic cardstock.
  7. Layer the cooled heat embossed diecut over the matte gold, allowing the gold to peek out from behind, so as to create a shadow.
  8. Add the layered diecut skyline to the watercolour piece and trim any excess off the edges.
  9. Add sentiment using foam tape.
  10. Adhere to an A2 cardbase.

And that’s it! I had lots of fun making this gorgeous mottled skyline! These colours go beautifully together, but you could really use any colour combination at all. The larger ultra high powders help to move the powders together for them to mix and get that the gorgeous streaks and marbled look to it. Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope that I have helped to inspire you in some way and I wish you all the most wonderful and colourful day! Until next time 🙂

Hello…..my name is Michelle and I’m a Canadian girl living in the beautiful countryside of Switzerland with my Swiss husband and 2 cats. I love all things crafty, shiny and glittery! Besides my love for papercrafting, I also enjoy crocheting and making felt flowers.

My papercrafting journey began about 20 years ago when I walked into my little local stamp and scrapbooking store to make a scrapbook album for my parents’ 20th wedding anniversary. I eventually moved on to cardmaking and haven’t looked back since.
