A Shimmering Poinsettia Christmas Card with WOW! Embossing Powders

The highlight of today’s project is our brand new Ice Crystal Trio Embossing Powders. These powders—White Ice, Blue Ice, and Pink Ice—are perfect for creating a frosty, festive look on your cards. I used these to bring my die-cut poinsettia to life, and I can’t wait to show you how.

  1. Creating this poinsettia was an absolute joy. Each layer of the poinsettia die cut was embossed with one of the Ice Crystal powders. The largest layer got a coat of White Ice, the medium layer was covered in Blue Ice, and the smallest layer was adorned with Pink Ice. For the leaves, I used Primary Evergreen Embossing Powder, and the center of the flower was finished with Gold Super Fine Embossing Powder.
  2. Pro Tip: When heat setting the embossing powders, make sure to let each layer cool completely before stacking them. This ensures that the adhesive bonds well and the layers don’t shift.
  3. For the background, I used the Fab Foilers Love & Hugs set with Fab Foils Peruvian Gold. Running the striped background panel through my laminator with the foil created a beautiful, metallic finish that’s just perfect for the holidays. And here’s a little trick to avoid wasting any foil: I took the leftover foil and placed it on a Fab Foilers Solid Panel, then ran it back through the laminator. This way, I ended up with two stunning panels from one piece of foil!
  4. Pro Tip: Always keep your laminator handy when working with foils. It’s a game changer for adding that professional touch to your cards.
  5. Once the background panel was trimmed and adhered to a white mat layer, I attached it to my top-folding pink card base. The embossed poinsettia was then placed on the top right of the card front, and I added a die cut sentiment to the bottom of the panel. A few frosted embellishments in the center of the poinsettia completed the look, adding just the right amount of sparkle.
  6. A quick tip on the final assembly: Make sure all the layers and embellishments are securely adhered, especially if you’re planning to mail the card. You wouldn’t want any pieces coming loose in transit!

Creating this card was so much fun, and the end result is truly eye-catching. I hope this project inspires you to try out the WOW! Ice Crystal Trio Embossing Powders and other fabulous products from WOW! Embossing Powders. Their range of embossing powders and foils can elevate any card design, making your creations stand out.
