Adding a WOW Factor to Embossed Backgrounds

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hello crafty friends it’s Rick back with you today for WOW Embossing sharing a few ways for Adding a WOW Factor to Embossed Backgrounds and how that can help you create a fun and unexpected card design that pops.

Adding a WOW Factor to Embossed Backgrounds

We all love a fun and creative background, and sometimes we want to take out backgrounds up to the WOW level. I am going to share a couple ways to add that WOW factor to your card designs.

To start off you can simply add a double embossed background panel to your card front. This is actually super easy to do. You simply need an embossing folder, a brayer, WOW Embossing Ink Pad, and a little Gold Super Fine Embossing Powder. Roll the brayer over the ink pad or go direct to the embossing folder. Ink up the embossing folder with the inked up brayer on the side that’s the most flat. Then simply add your cardstock and run it through your die cutting and embossing machine. Pour on your Gold Super Fine Embossing Powder and heat set with the Dual Speed Heat Tool.

Now you have a panel that’s embossed from the embossing powder and beautifully embossed with all the WOW metallic love you can get.

Creating a Focal Element

Once you have the double embossed panel attached to your card base. It’s time to add a little more WOW factor to your project. Create a focal point panel for your card by using a stencil on your card that coordinates with the theme of your project.

For me I picked a layering heart stencil and with each layer applied a little Mixed Media Embossing Brush applied through the stencil with a foam blending tool. Once I had one layer inked up I then applied one of my chosen colored of embossing powders. I started with Apple Red Embossing Powder and heat set it.

Then I moved to my next layer and next color of embossing powder (Gold Super Fine Embossing Powder) and heat set it. And then the last layer of the stencil and last color of embossing powder (Clear Gloss Embossing Powder mixed with a little Oh Dorothy Sparkles). Then all I had to do was a little ink blending and using an arch die to cut out the panel.

Adding a WOW Factor Close Up View of Rick's Project

Once that was popped up on the card base all I had to do was add my stamped, colored, and die cut images and my heat embossed sentiment. And with just a few steps I took what could have been a plain card and added a WOW factor to the background panels and the entire card. I encourage you to give this a try. I know you will love it so much.
