Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hello everyone, it’s Emilie here. Today I am sharing different ways to use embossing powder on one project.
I will be using all four embossing powders from the Heritage Quad inspired by Seth Apter and building layers of a journal page, with stamping, die-cutting and a stencil.
Different ways to use embossing powder on one project.
Stencilled Background
Starting off with the background I used two colours of ink to colour in a piece of white card. I began with a light layer of ink-blending, before adding more ink in areas to build up depth. To add a bit of texture and detail to my ink-blending I added some water splatters and stamping.
Once everything had dried I laid a stencil over the top and went through it with embossing ink. This added a pattern to the background. I then removed the stencil and added two embossing powders. For this I worked in sections. Starting with one of the powders from the quad I added a small amount to an area of the pattern. Next I tapped off the excess and then repeated in a different area. Lastly I repeated the same with the second powder before heat setting it all with my heat tool.
Stamping and Die-cutting
For the focal point of this journal page I created a torn page by using some card I had ink-smooched on, tore around the edges and added some text stamping over the top. I then stamped again with embossing ink and added embossing powder. This helped to show up the selected text. For added texture I wrapped around a piece of string which holds the word token and taped the ends to the back of the card.
For the leaf stems I die cut them from white card and inked them up with embossing ink before pouring over the embossing powder and heat setting them. Lastly I stamped out a butterfly, added a touch of embossing powder and die-cut it out.
To bring my project together I stuck down the torn page to the stencilled background with liquid glue. Placed where I wanted the paper doll girl and leaf stems to go. Once I was happy with the placement I glued down the stems first and then raised the girl up with foam pads and added liquid glue to her feet. Lastly I glued on the butterfly. Finally my journal page was complete.
