Hello everyone it’s Emilie here. Today I am sharing with you how I made a double embossing background on a tag that I created. This is a technique which lets you create beautiful backgrounds that are full of embossed goodness. I am using the new Foraged Relics Quad which is part of the Found In Nature Collection inspired by Seth Apter, on different elements of this tag. Lets begin.
Double embossing background
Begin by inking up a tag with embossing ink. I like to do this by pressing my tag into my ink pad. Once it is all covered with ink you can add on your first choice of embossing powder. I chose to go with Olive Algae. Next use your heat tool to melt the powder and heat from underneath the tag, this stops the powder from blowing away.
Next take a stencil and a blending tool to blend embossing ink through the stencil. Choose an embossing powder which will stand out from your embossed tag. Once I had done this, I removed my stencil and poured over Opaque Vanilla White embossing powder and heat-set it with my heat tool. My double embossing background was ready for some focal elements.
Focal elements
To create my focal elements for my tag I have used die cuts. I cut two wreaths from coloured card and embossed one of them using Honey Lichen embossing powder. For the bird I used Copper Veil. Once I had finished adding the embossing powders to my die cuts, I glued the two wreaths together and raised them up on the tag with foam pads. To break up the bird from the background and wreath I added some fabric behind it. I used Coal Flare at each end of the sentiment and glued it down to the top of the wreath. Lastly to finish off my tag I tied three pieces of coloured string together through the hole at the top.
