Easy & Elegant Foiled Cards with WOW! Fab Foilers

One of the things I love most about using WOW!’s Fab Foilers is how they allow you to achieve a professional finish without all the fuss. Whether you’re new to foiling or have been doing it for a while, these foilers are a game-changer. They’ve become a staple in my crafting stash, and today I’m excited to show you why!

Why WOW! Fab Foilers?

WOW! Fab Foilers are pre-printed designs that make it easy to add foil to your cards without needing special equipment or techniques. All you need is a laminator and some of WOW!’s beautiful foils, and you’re ready to go. The best part? The results are stunning, and they look like they took a lot more effort than they really did!

Step 1: Creating the Foiled Background. Let’s start with the background. I chose one of the beautiful designs from the Love & Hugs Fab Foilers set. These pre-printed backgrounds make foiling a breeze! First, I placed a piece of the Metal Marmalade Fab Foil over the background and ran it through my laminator. A quick tip: Always make sure your foil is shiny side up and that your laminator is fully heated before running it through. This ensures you get a clean, crisp transfer every time. Once foiled, I trimmed the background down to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and matted it onto a piece of Black Cardstock cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″. The contrast between the black mat and the shimmering foil is stunning and really makes the design pop! Just like this 🙂
Step 2: Foiling the Sentiment. Next, I selected one of the sentiment sheets from the Love & Hugs Fab Foilers. For this card, I wanted a sentiment that stood out but didn’t overpower the design. I decided to use the Peruvian Gold Fab Foil to add a luxurious touch to the sentiment. Just like with the background, I placed the foil over the sentiment and ran it through my laminator. The result was a beautifully foiled sentiment that looked like it took a lot more effort than it actually did! I then trimmed the sentiment to the desired size, keeping it simple to let the foil do the talking.
Step 3: Adding the Floral Accent. Now, for a bit of die-cut magic! I used a floral die from my stash to cut a delicate flower and leaves from WOW!’s Superior Smooth White Cardstock. This cardstock is fantastic for die-cutting because it’s super smooth, and the cuts are always clean and crisp. After die-cutting, I reached for my Bitty Blending Brushes and Distress Inks to add some color. I blended Abandoned Coral and Candied Apple onto the flower petals, creating a vibrant, gradient effect. For the stems and leaves, I used Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn, giving them a fresh, springtime look.
Pro Tip: When blending, start with the lighter color and gradually add the darker shade. This helps you achieve a more natural, blended look.
Step 4: Assembling the Card. With all the elements ready, it’s time to bring everything together. I adhered the foiled background to an A2 card base made from White Ultra Thick Cardstock. This cardstock is my favorite for card bases because it’s sturdy and holds up well under layers. I then attached the floral die-cut to the card front, positioning it so that it overlapped the foiled background slightly, adding depth and interest. For the sentiment, I added a bit of the Abandoned Coral and Candied Apple Distress Inks around the edges to tie it in with the floral element, then adhered it to the card front. To finish off the card, I tied a double bow using Burlap Twine and added a Frosted Glass Bauble to the center. The bow adds a touch of rustic charm, while the bauble gives just the right amount of sparkle without taking away from the foiled elements.
