Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!
Hey guys, how are you? I’m back today with another instalment of Exploring Embossing, and this time, I’m doing a bit of watercolouring with brush markers. The ones that I use are Karin Brush Marker Pros (I have the box of 26 but there is also a box of 72 available) – but any water/aqua marker you have would work fine, or you could just use regular watercolour paint.

I used the new Metallic Polished Silver (Super Fine) embossing powder to help create my background – I inked up the Fractured Background cling stamp from Simon Says Stamp with embossing ink and stamped it down on to an A2 panel of watercolour paper. I added my powder, and set with my heat tool.
I then chose four colours from the Karin markers that would work well together (Royal Blue, Arctic Blue, Lilac and Turquoise) and I applied a small amount to the edge of one of the small sections in the background. I then took a paintbrush, added some clean water, and pulled the colour outwards. In each colour, I tried to colour segments that weren’t next to each other, to get a good spread of colour across the background. The great thing about the heat embossing is that it acts as a little wall, to help stop the colour from seeping into the next segment.

Once the background was dried, I trimmed it down and added it to a white A2 card base with foam tape. I die cut the “hey” sentiment from Heffy Doodle (sorry, I think this has been discontinued!) three times and glued them together for dimension. I then added the same silver powder to the top “hey” and heat set, then added it to my card with liquid glue. I also heat embossed a sub-sentiment from the Classic Sentiments stamp set (again, from Heffy Doodle). I love how the super fine powder makes even the small sentiments so crisp and clear. I placed this underneath the “hey” with thin foam strips, then finished off the card with some sequins in co-ordinating colours.

I hope this inspired you – there’s a reel over on IG / TikTok if you’d like to see the process! Thanks again for joining me and I’ll see you again soon for some more Exploring Embossing.
