Grunge Butterfly Inspired by Seth Apter

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hey WOW! friends….it’s Michelle back with a more simple card using one of my favourite techniques and featuring 4 powders inspired by Seth Apter. These powders are gorgeous and fabulously textured! I felt that this butterfly stencil was perfect, as it was in line with the mixed media type of powders. Let’s get started and create a Grunge Butterfly Inspired by Seth Apter.

Grunge Butterfly Inspired by Seth Apter

  1. .Cut a piece of white cardstock aq bit larger than your stencil and adhere using low tack tape.
  2. Using a mix of your embossing ink pad and Mixed Media Embossing Brush, ink up the butterfly image. The ink pad is perfect for the large body of the butterfly. And then the mixed media brush will help you to get in the small detailed areas surronding the body.
  3. Remove the stencil and sprinkle on the 4 powders – Crusty Copper, Etched Platinum, Tarnished Teal and Burnt Toffee, one at a time to ensure you aren’t mixing the powders. Use a small paintbrush if you need to break up certain colours.
  4. Heat emboss the image using your heat tool.
  5. Trim down the image to 4×5.25″ and add your chosen sentiment.
  6. Adhere to a top folding A2 black cardbase.

I love how these powders go so well with this grungy butterfly…as I said above, I felt they were perfect for one another! This is atechnique that I turn to over and over again. Using embossing powders with stencils is such a sikmple technique, but it definitely gives you that WOW! factor that we love with our embossing powders! Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope I have helped to inspire you. I wish you all a crafty and colourful day! Until next time 🙂

Michelle Burnier

Hello…..my name is Michelle and I’m a Canadian girl living in the beautiful countryside of Switzerland with my Swiss husband and 2 cats. I love all things crafty, shiny and glittery! Besides my love for papercrafting, I also enjoy crocheting and making felt flowers.

My papercrafting journey began about 20 years ago when I walked into my little local stamp and scrapbooking store to make a scrapbook album for my parents’ 20th wedding anniversary. I eventually moved on to cardmaking and haven’t looked back since.
