Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hey WOW! friends……it’s Michelle back with a new project featuring the new and oh so gorgeous Heritage Quad! I used the powders with one of my favourite tools…a stencil! THis is an easy and quick technique, that you can knock out in 15 minutes and looks like you spent much more time than that. Let’s get started and I’ll show you just how easy it is to mix your embossing powders.
Easy Mixing of Embossing Powders
- Cut a piece of watercolour paper just a tad bigger than your stencil. Adhere your stencil to the cardstock, whether it be with low tack tape or temporary spray adhesive.
- Apply embossing/texture paste evenly over the stencil. I find that watercolour paper holds up better with the wet medium.
- Remove the stencil carefully and rinse off right away or put in a dish of water for easy cleaning later.
- Sprinkle on each of the powders, one at a time. Ensure you sprinkle on evenly all over the paste, leaving enough untouched paste for the other powders. After each one is added, remove any excess on a piece of paper that ypu can funnel back into the small pot of powder. I added a bit of gold to it in the end, just because I felt that gold would go nicely with the colours.
- Immediately set the powders and the paste with your heat tool. This gives a little extra texture, as long as the paste hasn’t started to dry too much.
- Once you know the paste is fully dry, trim down the stencilled piece to 4×5.25″. Adhere to your A2 cardbase using foam tape.
- I added a sentiment that I heat embossed using the Ebony Embossing powder. This I adhered using liquid adhesive.
I love how beautifully these powders blend together, which obviously they were made to do. It is such a gorgeous and rich combo! If you haven’t tried this technique, definitely give it a try….it’s so easy to do! I hope that I have helped to inspire you in some way and I wish you all the most wonderful and colourful day! Until next time 🙂

Michelle Burnier
Hello…..my name is Michelle and I’m a Canadian girl living in the beautiful countryside of Switzerland with my Swiss husband and 2 cats. I love all things crafty, shiny and glittery! Besides my love for papercrafting, I also enjoy crocheting and making felt flowers.
My papercrafting journey began about 20 years ago when I walked into my little local stamp and scrapbooking store to make a scrapbook album for my parents’ 20th wedding anniversary. I eventually moved on to cardmaking and haven’t looked back since.
