Split Design with Fabrice

Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!

Hi everyone!! I hope you’re having a fabulous day!! I’m really happy to be guest designing on the Wow! embossing powders blog today. I decided to feature a split design card with two different techniques.

Split Design

Using stamps from a layering set, I stamped the outline images of the flowers on a pale lavender paper with black ink. I skipped the first layer, the one covering all the images for a base layer because the paper acts as the colored base layer.
Next, I stamped the second and third layers with medium purple ink and dark purple ink, respectively.
I then used the first layer stamp, when all the flowers were done, to add embossing ink on all of them and heat embossed them with clear powder.

The flowers will now resist any ink I’ll apply next to change the color of the pale lavender background. I chose black because that’s the color I used for the outline images and because I like high contrast but I could have chosen navy blue ink or even the same darker purple ink used for the last layer of the flowers.
Just make sure the color you choose will cover nicely the color of the cardstock.

The other technique is tone-on-tone heat embossing. On a piece of white cardstock, I stamped and heat embossed, in white, the outlines of the same flowers I used previously. This way, it connects the two panels together. I only stamped on the top half of the paper since the bottom part will be covered by the first panel.

I added a thin line of silver metallic paper on the joint (because I like the shine! and it gives a smoother finish) and used the same paper to die-cut the sentiment. I tried my best to show the white-on-white effect in a photo but it’s hard to capture it perfectly. (It looks absolutely stunning in real life, and the raised embossing provides a wonderful texture to the upper part of the panel!)

Have you ever tried one of these techniques ? Let me know in the comment below!!

Hope you liked the techniques and will use one of them on your next project.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great crafty week!!
