WOW! fab Foils & Foilers * Elegant Foiled Floral Card Techniques

Hi everyone, it’s Katarina here, and today I’m sharing an elegant floral card featuring a beautiful mix of foiling techniques using WOW! Fab Foils and Fab Foilers.

For this project, I wanted to explore how combining different foiling methods within a single design can create depth, contrast, and a truly luxurious finish. From a softly distressed foiled background to bold metallic florals and a crisp laminated sentiment strip, this card brings together several techniques while still maintaining a cohesive, elegant look.

Elegant layered foiling effects

The focal point of this card is all about contrast and texture. I started by creating a softly distressed background using stamping with Bonding Powder. Once heat set, I applied Gold Fab Foil and gently burnished it to reveal a broken, organic metallic pattern. This technique creates a subtle shimmer rather than a solid foiled finish, which works beautifully for elegant floral designs. Next, I moved on to the florals. These were die cut and foiled using double-sided adhesive sheets, which allowed me to apply Deepest Darkest Crimson foil for a bold, rich metallic finish. The contrast between the soft gold background and the deep crimson florals helps the focal elements really stand out.

Adding shine with Fab Foilers & laminator techniques

To introduce a crisp, modern metallic element, I used WOW! Fab Foilers with a laminator to create the sentiment strip. This method gives a smooth, high-shine finish that feels very different from the more textured foiling techniques used elsewhere in the design. It also helps balance the softer background by adding a clean, defined focal sentiment.

Creating the card

Stamp background using Bonding Powder and heat set

Apply Gold SAB Foil and burnish for a distressed metallic effect

Die cut florals and apply double-sided adhesive foiling with Deepest Darkest Crimson foil

Create sentiment strip using Fab Foilers and a laminator

Assemble layers and build floral arrangement

Add foliage and gold rhinestone embellishments to finish

Final thoughts

I absolutely loved exploring different foiling techniques within one project. Each method brings something unique to the design, from soft and textured to bold and reflective, and combining them allows you to create real depth and interest in your cardmaking.
