Welcome to WOW! Embossing Powder!
Hi, WOW! friends! It’s Andrea back with you to share a fun, slimline, Halloween card. There’s nothing like some glow-in-the-dark ghosts to get you in the Halloween spirit (no pun intended)!
I began this card by creating those fun, embossed diecuts. First, I diecut the ghosts with Whimsy Stamps’ Boo Dies, and then I pressed the diecuts into embossing ink before sprinkling them with WOW! Glow-in-the-Dark Embossing Powder. I heat-set the powder and repeated the process for maximum effect. To create the spooky treehouse, I applied embossing ink directly to black cardstock. Next, I sprinkled the paper with Blackberry Embossing Powder and heat-set it. Once the paper was cool to the touch, I diecut it with Whimsy Stamps’ Mini Slim Tree House Die. I just love the texture the Blackberry powder creates!
I stamped and colored that cute vampire from Whimsy’s Halloweeners set. I applied WOW! Embossing Pen to parts of her cape, sprinkled on Red Glitz Embossing Glitter, and heat-set it. I heat-embossed a sentiment from the Halloweeners set with WOW! Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder and diecut it with Whimsy’s Comic Speech Bubbles Dies.
For my background, I trimmed a panel of Bristol Smooth paper to 3.5″ x 6.5″ and blended it with the following colors of Distress Oxides: Wilted Violet, Villainous Potion, and Black Soot. I flicked water across the panel and blotted it dry before adding spatters of black paint. Once the background was dry, I attached it to a cardbase and affixed the treehouse with foam tape. I glued the ghosts directly to the treehouse and popped up the vampire and sentiment with foam squares.
