Today’s project is a delightful example of how you can repurpose those scraps into a stunning new card using WOW!’s fabulous products. Transforming Foil Scraps into Stunning Cards: A WOW! Embossing Powders Project

Step 1: Repurposing Foil Leftovers. A couple of weeks ago, I wrapped up a fun card-making session and found myself with some gorgeous foil remnants from WOW!’s Love & Hugs Fab Foilers. Instead of tossing these beautiful scraps, I decided to challenge myself to turn them into something fresh and exciting. I took the negative pieces from the Love & Hugs Fab Foilers and combined them with WOW!’s Solid Fab Foilers.
Pro Tip: To get the best results, make sure your laminator is fully heated before you begin. This ensures a smooth, even transfer of the foil, giving you that perfect shine. Just like this 🙂
I placed the negative foil pieces onto the Solid Fab Foiler sheet and ran them through the laminator. The process was magical—the foil adhered perfectly, and the result was a beautifully foiled background that was both eye-catching and elegant.
Step 2: Preparing the Card Base. With the foiled panel ready, it was time to prepare the card base. I used a top-folding A2 card base and trimmed the foiled panel to fit perfectly. Attaching it to the card base created a vibrant and stylish foundation for the rest of the design.
Pro Tip: When trimming foiled panels, use a paper trimmer with a sharp blade to ensure clean, precise cuts. This will help you avoid any tearing or smudging of the foil.
Step 3: Adding the Floral Die-Cut. Next up, I wanted to add a touch of elegance to the card, so I turned to my trusted die-cutting machine. Using Superior White Cardstock, I die-cut a delicate floral image with the floral die (from my stash). This floral die-cut added a lovely contrast to the bold foiled background.
Pro Tip: For intricate die-cuts, use a fine-tip glue pen to apply adhesive precisely. It helps in sticking down those small, delicate parts without creating a mess.
Step 4: Incorporating the Sentiment. To finish off the card, I used one of the sentiments from the Love & Hugs Fab Foilers. I had foiled these sentiments with WOW!’s Peruvian Gold Fab Foil during my previous session, and they matched perfectly with the foiled background. I added one of these gold-foiled sentiments to the front of the card, giving it a touch of elegance and a personal feel.
Pro Tip: If you have leftover sentiments or embellishments from other projects, don’t hesitate to incorporate them. They can add a unique and personal touch to your designs.
Step 5: Adding the Finishing Touches. To complete the card, I added a few Frosted Glass Baubles to the front. These added just the right amount of sparkle and texture to complement the foiled background and floral die-cut.
Pro Tip: When adding embellishments, try arranging them in a visual triangle to create a balanced and harmonious look. This technique helps draw the eye to the focal points of your design.
